Damaging heavy swell warning issued for western and eastern Fiji waters
A damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for the Mamanuca Waters, the southwest Viti Levu Waters, Kadavu Passage, the Koro Sea and Lau Waters.

The Nadi Weather Office says a northeast to southeast wind flow continues to prevail over the Fiji group.

It says a high-pressure system, coupled with a low-pressure system far southwest of Fiji, is expected to generate and direct damaging heavy swells across Fiji waters from later tonight.

The Fiji Meteorological Service says damaging swells of up to 4 metres, with wave periods of up to 14 seconds, are expected to develop from later tonight.

Possible impacts include dangerous breaking waves in open waters, strong rip currents reaching low-lying coastal areas, and an increased risk of small boats and other craft capsizing.
