Conference preparations underway as YSAs set up accommodation for Strength of Youth Fiji 2025

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin their journey for the Strength of Youth Fiji 2025 – Look Unto Christ Conference, young single adults have gathered at the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in Tamavua to prepare accommodation for the youth.

Young single adults from Tavua, including Meri Dakunimata, say the youth could be at home doing other things or getting involved in many activities happening around them, including social issues such as drugs.

She says one thing she really loves is that the youth will be with them, and the YSAs will be running activities and church programs that will help the youth stay on the covenant path by preparing themselves physically, spiritually and mentally.

Dakunimata says that as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they believe in keeping the law of chastity, which means remaining pure in thought, spiritually and physically, and following the Word of Wisdom, which include not smoking, drinking and avoiding things that can lead them away from the covenant path.

She says she looks forward to helping the youth socialise and broaden their views on things happening around them, in a way that boosts their confidence.

She adds that this is one of the main reasons they are here, to help the youth stay on the covenant path.

Dakunimata says they arrived yesterday, and this morning they began unpacking, sorting out the rooms and settling in.

She says they are currently at the church college having their sacrament meeting, and after that, they will meet again as counsellors and assistant counsellors to run through tomorrow’s program as they prepare to welcome the youth.

She adds that the world has beautified itself in many ways, drawing people in, but reminds the youth that the Lord knows what they are going through, what they have been through and what they will face.

Dakunimata says they are excited to see the youth and want them to know they are loved.

The conference starts tomorrow.
