Coach says Bula FC still not where they need to be

With Extra Bula FC in third place on the OFC Pro League table following Sunday's 1-nil win against the Solomon Kings, coach Stéphane Auvray says the win may be important for the players and fans but for him, consistency matters more and the team is not where he wants them to be.

While speaking to the media after the win in Papua New Guinea, Auvray says he does not believe they had a consistent performance but the players showed character and adaptability.

He says the win is good because they have four points now, but at the end of the day, he says he wants the team to be solid and strong no matter who they play, and so far, that is not the case.

Bula FC now turn their focus towards their match against South Melbourne FC at 5.30pm tomorrow.

Auckland FC leads the table with 12 points, South Melbourne is second with 7 points while Bula FC and Solomon Kings are in third and fourth position respectively, with 4 points each.

If Bula FC remain in the top-four position after playing all 14 matches of Phase 1, they will progress into the Leaders Group, where the top four teams play each other once.

If Bula FC drop out of the top four, they move into the Challengers Group with the bottom 4 teams.

Only the team that finishes first in that group gets another chance, and they must then play a do-or-die match against the lowest-ranked team from the Leaders Group to reach the semi-finals.

The semi finals will be between the top three teams from the Leaders Group, and the winner of the play-off between the bottom team in the Leaders Group and the top team from the Challengers Group.

The two semi-finals are on Wednesday 20th May.

The winners advance to the OFC Pro League Final on Sunday 24th May.
