As the Fiji Kulas prepare for their first match in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Oceania Qualifiers tomorrow, head coach Nicola Demaine says they have heavily focused on making sure the team is physically prepared for the demands of tournament.

She says fitness and speed have been key areas of emphasis in camp, with clear improvements in both aspects.

Demaine says they have seen noticeable progress, particularly in their intensity and recovery as this is going to be important in a tournament setting where turnaround time between matches is short.

The Kulas will open their campaign against New Caledonia at 4pm at Govind Park in Ba tomorrow.

Meanwhile, people will also get a special treat as the Commonwealth Games King’s Baton will be at the stadium from 2.30pm.

They will then meet Papua New Guinea on March 2nd before wrapping up their pool matches against Vanuatu at 4pm on March 5th.

With home support expected in Ba, the Kulas will be looking to capitalise on familiar conditions as they aim to secure a strong start in the Oceania qualifiers.

With free entry for all matches, Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel has called on fans to turn up in numbers and support the Fiji women’s national team.
