Close to 8,000 plants believed to be marijuana have been seized during a police operation at the Bilobiloca farming area in the Northern Division.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe says the raid was made possible through information sharing, with a drone later deployed to confirm the cultivation site.

Vusonilawe says community support has been instrumental in the success of such raids, leading to seizures and arrests.

He says the sharing of information reflects the community's support for law enforcement efforts, and the Fiji Police Force extends its appreciation for the continued support towards crime prevention efforts.

The Assistant Commissioner says drug operations are multifaceted, with officers not only targeting illicit drugs but also other offences to ensure a holistic approach to tackling crime.

Police are urging members of the public to call 1681 to report crimes, share information or raise concerns about service delivery.
