Navua Hospital is facing ongoing challenges after the closure of its labour ward, general ward and maternity ward for more than a year, raising concerns over access to essential healthcare services for the Navua community and surrounding areas.
A source has told fijivillage News that a small space in the hospital’s second building is currently being used for baby deliveries.
She says the ceiling had collapsed, which is the reason the wards were ordered to be closed.
She adds that nurses and midwives are forced every morning to fill bottles and buckets with water for admitted patients due to ongoing water supply issues.
Questions have been sent to the Ministry of Health.
They are yet to response.
