Cardiff set to become the home of Fijian Rugby on 4 July

Cardiff is set to become the home of Fijian rugby for one special day when the FIJI Water Flying Fijians play Wales, with Fiji as the home team.

This was shared by the Fiji Rugby Union.

FRU says that, as a Fiji home match, the city will come alive with the sights, sounds, and spirit of the Pacific Islands, from traditional warriors and cultural performers welcoming supporters on their journey to the stadium, to a vibrant Fan Zone filled with live music, authentic Fijian experiences, and family entertainment.

This promises to be unlike any other match day.

FRU says that as supporters make their way to the stadium, they will be greeted by Fijian warriors in traditional attire, creating a unique and memorable atmosphere.

Traditional Fijian dancers will also perform along the route, offering a warm cultural welcome and setting the stage for a true Fijian summer celebration.

They say that, located just outside the stadium, the official Fan Zone will allow supporters to immerse themselves in authentic Fijian culture before kick-off.

At the heart of the Fan Zone will be a traditional Fijian village featuring authentic bures, the iconic thatched houses found throughout the islands.

FRU adds that fans can enjoy a range of cultural activities, including receiving temporary tribal tattoos from specialist artists, creating their own Fijian-inspired tote bags, dressing in authentic Fijian costumes, and learning more about Fiji’s islands, traditions, and cultural heritage.

They say the entertainment will continue throughout the day with performances from some of Fiji’s most celebrated acts, including Paradise Rootz, Primanavia—Fiji’s award-winning choir that blends classical choral excellence with rich Pacific traditions—and Georgina Ledua, one of Fiji’s most beloved singers and songwriters.

They will be joined by DJ Kingsman, the UK’s leading Fijian DJ, who will keep the energy and excitement building throughout the event.

They say supporters are encouraged to embrace the festive spirit by wearing colourful Bula shirts, Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, and other Pacific-inspired outfits.

FRU says the best-dressed fans will have the opportunity to win exciting prizes, helping transform Cardiff into a vibrant sea of colour and the ultimate summer rugby celebration.

Fiji will play Wales next Saturday at Cardiff City Stadium at 1.10am.
