Indiscipline has cost the Fiji Airways Men's 7s side a place in the semi finals after Vuiviawa Naduvalo was shown a yellow card in their quarter final clash against South Africa this morning.
The Osea Kolinisau coached side scored early in the game through Naduvalo and Kavekini Tanivanuakula to give them a 12-0 lead.
Sebastiaan Jobb got the Blitboks back into the game with a converted try just before half time to keep them in reach.
Jobb alscored right after the kickoff for the second half to give them the lead for the first time in the game.
Naduvalo was shown a yellow card in the 12th minute which made it even harder for Fiji to try and get back in the game as South Africa shut them out not giving Fiji any possession.
Fiji will now meet the USA at 1.26 tomorrow morning in the 5th place playoff.
They had beaten Kenya 31-12 in their first pool game, overpowered Great Britain 26-12 before edging South Africa 15-12 in their last pool game.
In other quarter finals, hosts France tharashed Valladolid winners Australia 26-0, New Zealand thumped Great Britain 24-5, while Spain beat the USA 17-5.
The Cup semi finals are at 11.34 tonight with the Cup final at 3.41am tomorrow.
