The body found in Tamaivua-i-Wai yesterday afternoon has been identified as a 15 year old student, who had been missing from home since last Wednesday.

Police say initial information gathered by investigators is that the victim had left his home on Christmas eve with friends to go to Suva, but failed to return home as expected.

The victim’s family had since been searching for him within the settlement and with relatives and friends, and yesterday called into the Samabula Police Station to lodge a report.

Police say a 30 year old man discovered the victim's body yesterday and alerted police.

They say his parents identified the victim from the clothes found at the scene.

Investigations continue.
