Youths in Macuata are set to benefit from improved maritime skills and safer livelihood opportunities following the completion of the Boat Master and Class 6 License Training programme at Nakawaga Village on Mali Island yesterday.

The programme, which aims to promote safe and sustainable maritime practices, was officially closed by Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Mosese Bulitavu.

He says the training goes beyond technical skills, helping to build environmental awareness, encourage social responsibility, and create economic opportunities.
He also urged participants to protect marine ecosystems, avoid pollution, and safeguard coral reefs as they pursue livelihoods in areas such as commercial boating, tourism, and fishing.
