A women's group in Beqa is continuing to grow its floriculture business with support from the Ministry of Agriculture's Women in Agriculture Programme.
The Dakuni Women's Group, led by Adi Sala Vibote, received assistance through the programme during the 2024/2025 financial year and has been developing its anthurium project for the past three years.
The Ministry of Agriculture says the group currently has 20 active members who manage 20 healthy anthurium plants in a greenhouse using practical growing methods.
They say Vibote's passion for floriculture has inspired other women in the village to learn new skills and take part in agriculture.
The Ministry adds that the assistance has helped the group maintain its greenhouse, explore other plant varieties and strengthen women's participation in the agricultural sector.
They say the success of the Dakuni Women's Group highlights how women in rural communities are using agricultural support to create sustainable income opportunities for themselves and their families.
