Arsenal retain top spot with 2–1 win over Brighton
Arsenal held on to the top of the Premier League after a tense 2–1 victory against Brighton at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners dominated the first half, with Martin Odegaard scoring his first league goal of the season to give them a 1–nil lead at the break.
They doubled their advantage early in the second half when Declan Rice’s corner was inadvertently turned into his own net by Georginio Rutter.
Brighton pulled one back through Diego Gómez, but David Raya made a crucial save from substitute Yankuba Minteh to secure the win.
With this result, Arsenal lead the standings with 42 points, Manchester City sit second with 40 points, and Aston Villa are in third place with 39 points.
In other results this morning, Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest 2–1, Brentford thrashed AFC Bournemouth 4–1, Liverpool edged Wolves 2–1, Fulham defeated West Ham United 1–nil, Burnley and Everton drew nil–all, and Aston Villa beat Chelsea 2–1.
