Armstrong-Ravula’s rise draws attention as Tupaea leads Player of the Year race

Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula

Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about young playmakers in Super Rugby Pacific, and his rising influence for the Fijian Drua is now starting to reflect in the competition’s wider awards picture.

The young Fijian fly-half produced another eye-catching performance in the Drua’s clash with the Brumbies, earning top votes for that match and further strengthening his reputation as one of Fiji’s most exciting emerging talents.

While the Player of the Year race is still being led by Quinn Tupaea on 43 points, Armstrong-Ravula’s continued impact has made him one of the names fans are increasingly watching as the season progresses.

At the top of the overall standings, Tupaea remains the clear frontrunner after another consistent round for the Chiefs, holding a solid lead over Western Force playmaker Ben Donaldson, who sits second on 34 points.

Ryan Lonergan continues to hover in third, while a tight cluster of players—including Max Jorgensen, Miracle Faiilagi, Timoci Tavatavanawai, and Will Jordan—remain within striking distance as voting intensifies.

Fijian interest in the competition, however, is not just about the top of the leaderboard. Armstrong-Ravula has become a focal point for Drua supporters, while Kitione Salawa and Manasa Mataele continue to draw attention for their physical presence and attacking flair. Timoci Tavatavanawai also remains one of the highest-ranked Fijian-eligible players in the competition, sitting firmly in the top 10 overall.

In the Rookie of the Year race, Sid Harvey has pulled away from the pack with a commanding lead on 19 points, with Nic Shearer as his closest challenger.

Several emerging names, including Codemeru Vai and Malachi Wrampling, are still in the mix, but Harvey’s consistency has set the benchmark.

There is also added intrigue around Zac Lomax, who has now polled votes for the Western Force and is officially eligible for Rookie of the Year despite his previous NRL background, adding another talking point to an already competitive field.

As the season heads into its decisive stages, the picture is starting to sharpen: Tupaea remains the man to beat, Harvey looks firmly in control of the rookie race, and for Fijian fans, Armstrong-Ravula’s rise is becoming one of the most compelling storylines.

The Drua play the Chiefs at 4.30pm this Sunday.
