All Black Ardie Savea has suffered a gruesome eye injury playing in Japan.

The superstar flanker posted a video on TikTok which shows several stiches and bruises above his right eye.

Savea has a history of eye issues.

During the 2019 Rugby World Cup, he experimented with protective goggles due to deteriorating vision in his left eye.

Savea announced in June last year that he will return to Moana Pasifika in 2027, after a one-year stint with the Kobelco Kobe Steelers in Japan in 2026.

The 31-year-old is exercising a sabbatical clause which was included in his contract with New Zealand Rugby when he re-signed with the governing body last year.
