Students in Years 5 and 7 who are unable to attend the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (LANA) on 21st and 22nd July due to verified transport disruptions beyond their control will be considered under the Ministry of Education's Assessment Policy.
The Ministry of Education says alternative arrangements will be made for eligible students to sit the assessment on a later approved date, ensuring they are not unfairly disadvantaged.
They are working closely with the Office of the Commissioner Northern, the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the Fiji Police Force, school leaders, and other key stakeholders to minimise the impact on students and ensure continuity of learning.
The Ministry is coordinating a range of contingency measures, including transport assistance where required, close monitoring of student attendance and transport services, and ongoing collaboration with schools and partner agencies to support affected communities.
Permanent Secretary for Education, Navin Raj, says the Ministry's priority is to ensure every student has safe and uninterrupted access to education and that no child is disadvantaged by circumstances beyond their control.
