Children from as young as 6 and 7 years old took part in the clean up exercise in the Vatuwaqa industrial area along the coast this morning.

The initiative was organised by the Suva Harbour Foundation who were supported Suva SUPers, Waste Recyclers Fiji, International Union for Conservation of Nature, Performance Flotation Development and Suva City Council.

Suva Harbour Foundation’s President, Sydel Whippy says about 120 people took part in the clean up.

Whippy says they mostly collected plastic products.

Whippy says they will continue to do more clean up of the Suva Harbour which is dedicated in the honour of the late Captain Johnathan Smith who was passionate about clean ocean and environment.
