You commit the crime, you serve the time – Varinava Tiko

New Generation Party Acting Leader, Varinava Tiko

The Acting Leader of the New Generation Party, Varinava Tiko says he will not allow himself to compromise his values and what the party stands for in governance.

Tiko highlighted this in response to a question on fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan on what he will do to people like 2000 coup leader, George Speight who is serving a life sentence for treason.

He says there is a structure and system in place where people who are serving life sentences can apply for mercy.

Tiko adds the system needs to be empowered.

He says the law must be upheld in this country.
