Year 9 student's death officially classified as murder

The case regarding the death of a Year 9 student in her home in Namara in Labasa on Wednesday night has been officially classified by Police as a murder case.

This is after the post morterm was conducted.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says the Divisional Crime Officer and a team of investigators are working around the clock in the case.

There have been no arrests made so far.

The girl's landlord has given a statement to Police.

Police say people heard the girl scream for help on Wednesday night and upon checking on her, the landlord discovered her lying near the front door with visible stab wounds.

The girl was home alone as her mother was yet to return from work.
