The Attorney General and the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they have recruited the services of world-renowned town planner, Dr. Liu Thai Ker from the Singapore Corporation Enterprise to carry out a number of reforms in Fiji.
Sayed-Khaiyum says they will work with him to work out a master plan for the Suva-Nausori and the Lautoka-Nadi corridor which are the four most populated places in urban centres in the country.
He says they will pick up a lot of new ways of looking at town planning as Dr. Liu is an internationally acclaimed town planner who has a doctorate in town planning.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that if one wants to run a successful municipality, then they need to be able to think long term and councils need to provide long term strategic goals because essentially that has been missing for decades in Fiji.
He adds special administrators need to know the areas they need to look into and cater for the needs of their rate-payers.
