Workers getting minimum wage should also get worker entitlements
Workers under the National Minimum Wage Regulations are also applicable to all worker entitlements stipulated in the Employment Relations Promulgation.

Minister for Labour Jone Usamate said this includes entitlements such as annual leave, public holiday leave, maternity leave and bereavement leave.

He said all benefits provided under the Employment Relations Promulgation must also be fully awarded when due to these workers.

Usamate said under the regulations all employers are required to display a written National Minimum Wage notice in their workplaces for the purpose of informing and educating the workers.

He added the Ministry in its effort to provide efficient and effective supportive role for the implementation of the National Minimum Wage has established a Wages Unit which will provide professional secretariat support to the 10 sectors under the Wages Regulations Orders.

Meanwhile a total of 72,000 workers will benefit from Fiji's National Minimum Wage of $2 per hour which is now in effect since the 1st of this month.
