Women's leadership in rural communities is vital and Government will continue to empower women through much-needed assistance such as finance and resources.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad highlighted this during a site visit to the Jobs for Nature project in Nailaga Village in Ba.

Professor Prasad says women should always be appreciated for their input towards their family and community as sometimes they go unnoticed.

Jobs for Nature supports small-scale projects for vulnerable Fijians and focuses on the protection, restoration and rehabilitation of the natural surrounding that is funded by the World Bank.

He says they have also increased funds for village development to improve the condition of the villages so that people can live a better life.

He further says that the government will ensure that the Nailaga Health Centre gets more attention on some of the maintenance work in the shortest possible time.

He adds the site visits across the Western division is to boost effective national planning and to ensure seamless alignment with the nation's financial strategies.

Meanwhile, the Nailaga Women Youth representative acknowledged the kind support from the government as women are now able to earn for their families.
