Women can do any job as well as a man in meritable basis.

These were the sentiments of New Zealand High Commissioner Jonathan Curr during the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality event organized by South Pacific Stock Exchange which coincides with International Women’s Day today.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Commissioner Curr says that he is a big fan of women and it does not matter which position they hold in different sectors, they should be respected.

He says that women can do any job as well as a man and this is evident in Fiji, New Zealand and other parts of the world

Meanwhile, the Director Marketing for Courts Anil Senewiratne says that men should be acknowledged for the opportunity that they have created for women to succeed.

In an effort to mark International Women’s Day today South Pacific Stock Exchange is one of the first stock exchanges in the world to lead other stock exchanges in ringing its opening trading bell to raise awareness about the business case of gender equality and sustainable development.

SPSE held a debate as part of the program, with individuals from the listed companies as well as representatives from the private sector.

The global Ring a Bell for Gender Equality event is a unique opportunity to celebrate, promote and encourage the participation of women in Fiji’s private sector.
