Women are not punching bags says Tuitubou while donating boxing gear
Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou with the boxing equipment for Newtown Boxing Club

Refrain from using sporting gear and your fitness level to abuse women in your family and society as women are not punching bags.

These were the words of the Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou while handing over boxing equipment to the Newtown Boxing Club.

Tuitubou says at many times, men tend to use their fitness to abuse women and he feels that this should instead be used to protect them.

Tuitubou also says that there is a high need to re-engage youths in formal education or allow them to be involved in community activities which will also reduce crime in our society and improve living standards.

Newtown’s Boxing Club President Jone Loloma says that the club which was formed a year ago now has about 60 members and he hopes to see the number grow as time goes.

He says that youth participation in the club has also helped in eliminating crime.

The donation with the value of $3,156.66 was funded by the Office of the Prime Minister’s Small Grants Scheme
