Woman from Waidamudamu settlement remanded in custody
Angila Devi is facing a count of obtaining property by deception.

A 38-year-old woman of Waidamudamu settlement in Nausori who allegedly produced a dishonoured cheque worth close to $90,000 to a Director of a spare parts company has been remanded in custody.

Angila Devi is facing a count of obtaining property by deception.

Devi allegedly used the cheque to buy vehicle parts which were later discovered to be dishonoured when it was taken to the bank to be deposited.

Some of the vehicle spare parts were recovered by the Southern Division Taskforce in a vacant house in Nadi.

The second person brought in for his alleged involvement has been questioned and released.

Devi will re-appear in the Nasinu Magistrates Court tomorrow.
