A woman in her 20s who is believed to be the mother of the new born baby whose severed body was found along the tramline in Nawaka yesterday has been arrested and is under guard at the Nadi Hospital.
Police say information was received that the suspect had allegedly developed complications following the birth of the child.
Police had discovered remains believed to be that of a newborn baby in Nawaka, Nadi yesterday afternoon.
Neighbors had alerted Police after they saw a dog biting the remains.
