The Vodafone Fiji Bati Captain Wes Naiqama admits his side's 42-6 hammering against France last night at the Rugby League World Cup, has exceeded his expectations.
Naiqama said the teamwork in the Bati side proved to be the difference against France, who are currently ranked fifth in the world.
Also man of the match last night Aaron Groom said the side can achieve their goal of reaching the semifinals. The Canterbury Bulldogs halfback, who will play a VIP role in linking the forwards and the backline, said the win has set the platform for their next game against Scotland on Wednesday at 9.10pm.
Manager Ilaitia Naqau said Brisbane Broncos forward Ashton Sims, Paramatta Eels fullback Jarod Hayne and man of the match Aaron Groom shared their feelings to the team after last night's win, that they believe the Bati are on course to create a new history in the sport.
Naqau also revealed that the coaching staff and the team's pastors had to spend time with winger Akuila Uate who scored 3 tries in the game as he was not feeling well before kick-off.
The Bati side scored a total of 7 tries in the game as they led 18-6 at halftime.
Last night's victory has left Fiji leading the points table with two points and a game in hand against Scotland at 9.10pm on Wednesday.
