Weiss urges parents to educate children on negative impacts of social media
Permanent Secretary for Communications Deborah Weiss

The Permanent Secretary for Communications, Deborah Weiss has urged parents to advice their children on the negative impacts of social media and the extent to which it can harm them.

Speaking 2nd Multi Disciplinary Conference event today Weiss says that social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram is now a common ground for online bullying, selling drugs and polluting young minds.

Weiss says that these can also lead to much bigger problems such as child prostitution and using young people for drug peddling.

She adds children are now more exposed to technology than ever.

She says that parents must use online tools such as Mspeakup and Msafe to speak up on the threats and help young people.

The theme for the conference is "Break the barrier, speak the truth"
