The Mata-ni-tikina of Nailaga, Ba, Jeremaia Tuwai, who looks after seven villages and four settlements, said they stand by their chief the Marama Na Tui Ba who believes in unity and moving the country forward.
Tuwai said people like Doctor Tupeni Baba who have said that his comments are not substantive should have discussions with the people of Nailaga.
Tuwai said they support the draft constitution and do not want any race based systems that create divisions.
Tuwai said the Marama Na Tui Ba, Adi Laite Koroirau supports their stand.
Tuwai said in the draft constitution consultation in Lautoka that Laisenia Qarase, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and Ro Teimumu Kepa should stop using the race card as the itaukei can think for themselves.
He said the i-taukei people for long have been followers and have been misled but things will change now.
Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said he will not comment and has referred queries to the proposed SODELPA officials.
Proposed SODELPA official Doctor Tupeni Baba said there are no substantive comments and if someone has to talk from Ba it has to be Tuwai’s chief Adi Laite Koroirau.
Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu said Tuwai’s comments are baseless.
