Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says Fiji has the capacity to buy the COVID-19 vaccines and they are not just relying on aid or grant.

While speaking during the Virtual Public Budget Consultation from Singapore, Sayed-Khaiyum says they are willing to pay for the vaccines even if it costs up to $60 million.

He says what is important for them is to secure the vaccines and ensure that everybody gets vaccinated.

He says the only way to get out of this crisis is to get vaccinated and the government is working very hard through the Prime Minister to ensure that we get the vaccines.

However he says it is not an easy thing to do as some larger countries are also struggling with supply.
