We are the home to different ethnic groups with different customs and traditions and different religions whose followers live in peaceful co‑existence.

This was highlighted by the Minister of Health Rosy Akbar while officiating during the Chinese New Year reception in Suva.

Akbar says people should celebrate their common goals more than differences such as the Chinese New Year that provides an opportunity to embrace the uniqueness of each culture and nurture everlasting friendship and bonding.

She has also encouraged everyone to continue with the culture of unity, peace and promote acceptance for each other and in their own religious beliefs.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador, Qian Bo says this celebration is a very special one for China and he is hopes that it will strengthen the common development between Fiji and China.
