The Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance Team is in the Northern Division to carefully monitor the health situation after Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

Minister for Rural, Maritime Development and Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu says they are establishing a 3 forward operating base.

Seruiratu says they do not want an outbreak of Leptospirosis, Typhoid, Dengue, and Diarrhea.

He adds they first wanted to assess the situation in the outer islands before they moved to the mainland.

Seruiratu also says they have transitioned into the rehabilitation phase.

The Minister adds they have stabilized the situation, provided immediate essentials and that continues.
