We acknowledge the strength, resilience and contribution of women – Sanatan Dharm

The Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji acknowledge the strength, resilience and contribution of women in our homes and societies as we celebrate International Women’s Day today.

The Sabha says connecting ‘Maha Shivratri’ with International Women's Day, provides an opportunity to explore the significance of both occasions and recognise the roles of masculinity and femininity in Hindu mythology and contemporary society.

They say this day marks and serves as a platform to celebrate women's spiritual strength and their role in nurturing their family and cultural traditions.

The Sabha further says promoting gender equality is based on the principles of respect and empowerment and this can also be promoted through religious dialogue and awareness.

They add it is time to reflect on gender stereotypes and biases that can be challenged to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
