Water supply in parts of Nasinu and Nausori to be restored this weekend

Water supply in parts of Nasinu and Nausori to be restored this weekend
Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate.

Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate says water supply in parts of Nasinu and Nausori will normalize later in the weekend and he understands the water issues faced by people because he himself has had to bath using buckets for two days.

Usamate says the Water Authority of Fiji is currently carrying out repairs at the Wainibuku Junction which is expected to be completed tonight.

Thousands of people living in these areas have been without water supply for more than two days now and have raised concerns that they were not given any notice.

Usamate says the problem initially began with a burst main and while addressing it, there was a malfunctioned gate valve.

The Minister says at 7am today, all the outlets from the Wainibuku Junction were isolated to carry out repairs and this has also impacted water supply in large parts of Nasinu.

He adds they have been distributing water with 13 trucks yesterday but it will be increased to 20 today.
