Wainunu Settlement conducted a clean-up campaign along the creek in their community.

Residents of Wainunu Settlement in Wainibuku, Nausori conducted a clean-up campaign along the creek in their community to help save the partially-damaged culvert crossing that connects them to the main road.

Wainunu Settlement Committee Chairman, Semisi Vakacegu says they are concerned with the continuous erosion of soil and there is a lot of waste in the creek.

Vakacegu says they had called on the residents for a clean-up along the creek, and also sought assistance from the Nausori Town Council and Police.

He adds Nausori Town Council provided gloves and garbage bag for their clean-up campaign, and they also collected the waste from the creek.

Vakacegu further says officers from the Nausori Police Station also assisted them.

He says this is now a monthly event for their community, and urges others to not wait for help but do something they can with whatever they have.

About 137 families with 878 residents live in Wainunu Settlement.
