Nemia Wainiqolo who is the father of Olympic gold medal-winning 7s player Jiuta Wainiqolo says they have planned a small celebration for Jiuta before he leaves for France later this month.

Jiuta has secured a three-year contract with the French Top 14 club, Toulon.

Nemia says there are also plans for Jiuta to get married before he leaves.

He adds he only wishes that we had no COVID-19 cases in the community.

Nemia says it was always Jiuta’s dream to play for the Fiji soccer team as he was so passionate about the game since he was at Vashist Muni College.

He says he was later chosen to join the Under 20 football squad but was not chosen to travel with the team overseas.

Nemia says he then suggested to Jiuta to go and attend Ratu Kadavulevu School where he then switched to rugby and started to make his mark in the sport.

He says Jiuta comes out of quarantine on the 12th and they will be having the small celebration for him on the 14th of this month.
