Action from last year's competition of the Marist 7s

Waimanu Rugby Club will be aiming to win their first-ever Marist 7s title as they have confirmed their participation later this month.

Waimanu Rugby 7s Captain, Kitione Seruisavou says they have not held the Marist 7s title before, and players understand the huge role placed on them in trying to lift the title for the first time.

He says preparations have been ongoing since their off-season and participating in local tournaments has helped them get as much game time as possible.

Seruisavou says they know the competition will be tough this year as this tournament always includes the best of Fijian rugby 7s clubs and all teams will be aiming for the title.

He adds one of the main aims for some of their players is to showcase their rugby talents on the field and hopes to get a shot to be included in the national 7s team.

Meanwhile, 48 teams have confirmed their participation in the main event which includes defending champions, Police Rugby, Tabadamu Rugby, Ratu Filise Elite, Red Rock Rugby and Warden Gold.

The 44th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will be held from the 19th to the 21st of this month.
