Wai Farmers Cooperative receive tractor through Government’s assistance and livelihood programme

Minister for Commerce and Trade, Faiyaz Koya says the Wai Farmers Cooperative from Burenitu Village is an excellent example of how resource owners can put their assets to good use.

He highlighted this during the handing over of a tractor to Wai Farmers Co-operative at Asco Motors in Nabua today.

Koya says the farmers were able to capitalise on the Government’s assistance and livelihood programme for the betterment of their business, families and community.

The Wai Farmers Cooperative made a cash contribution of more than $18,000 and the Ministry, through the Integrated Human Resource Development Programme, contributed close to $56,000 to acquire the tractor.

Wai Farmers Cooperative spokesperson Jone Naluci has encouraged Fijians to make the most of the opportunities that are available for them.

The cooperative started in 2009 and now has a membership base of 42 farmers.
