WAF postpones planned water shutdown due to unfavorable weather conditions
Waila Water Treatment Plant

Good news for around 50,000 people as Water Authority of Fiji has postponed to next weekend the planned water shutdown at the Waila Water Treatment Plant due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Water Authority General Manager Customer Services and Acting General Manager Operations Sekove Uluinayau says that it was imperative for the Authority to postpone the commissioning works.

The works was to be done at Duilomaloma Road near the Waila Water Treatment Plant to see an improvement to the supply of water to their customers.

Uluinayau says that they do not want to take the risk of going ahead with the works as there are a lot of risks involved, which includes the safety of their crew members.

He also says that they do not want to shutdown water supply during a cyclone as this would cause more inconvenience.

The new dates for the Waila Water Shutdown is from 6am next Sunday to 6am Monday 14th of this month.

The Authority are also requesting people to store sufficient amounts of water for back‑up supply as water supply may be interrupted during the cyclone.
