Vucago proves critics wrong

Former captain Emosi Vucago proved his critics wrong by running in a total two tries in Fiji’s 29-14 win over Russia just a few minutes ago.

Vucago capitalised on a mistake by Russia in the dying minutes of the game to notch the final score and successfully convert his own try.

Vucago was in doubt for this game as he had injured his leg during yesterday’s 59-0 win over Malaysia prompting the coaching panel to carefully monitor his progress.

Meanwhile, Jerry Burotu opened Fiji’s try scoring machine running in a try just minutes into the game, followed by Osea Kolinisau who set up another try for the Tavua native.

Russia responded with 2 tries just after the second half whistle sounded however the Fiji defense and quick play saw Fiji respond with another three tries which saw Fiji claim victory 29-14.

Fiji’s next pool game is against Kenya at 9.40pm.

Meanwhile, in other results Wales prove too strong for Spain, winning 28 5, Kenya defeat Malaysia 45 12 and Scotland win 40 7 against Mexico, Argentina recorded their first victory of the 2011 Hong Kong Sevens, beating Zimbabwe 21 12, South Africa beat hosts Hong Kong 45-nil and Samoa is currently leading Tonga 14-12.
