The villagers of Yanuca, in the province of Serua, have raised serious concerns about the water issue they have been facing for decades.

While speaking to fijivillage News, village headman Aisake Talili says their only source of water is rain.

Talili says this issue has been raised repeatedly at both district and provincial meetings, but the response from authorities has been that there is not enough government funding to support village development.

He says that while rain brings relief, it is also a main source of concern for the villagers as they rely solely on it for their water supply.

The 39-year-old says that with a rise in reported cases of diarrhoea, villagers are being reminded to boil their water before use.

Talili is asking the government to take action on the longstanding issue and provide assistance in whatever way possible.
