5-year-old Judith Vererua has been blessed with a new lease of life after a successful heart surgery at the Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Hospital.

Her grandfather, Samuela Vererua says the family came to know last month about his granddaughter's heart issues.

Vererua says Judith was just having a stomach ache and they took her to the hospital to get checked but in the end, heart illness was diagnosed.

He says doctors from Nakasi Health Centre within a month, made all the arrangements at the Children's Heart Hospital.

He further says this has given Judith another chance to live longer and he has thanked all the staff for their help and contribution.

He is advising all parents to bring their children to the Hospital for a check.

Meanwhile, 12-year-old Georgiana Ilova from the Solomon Islands came with her father Mathias Meabir to Fiji for her heart surgery.

Meabir says his daughter was so blessed to be amongst the fortunate children who have undergone the free surgery.

He says his whole family were out of words to thank the Sai Prema staff for their great job in trying to save the lives of children in the Pacific.

He adds he sacrifices everything for the benefit of his daughter to be treated in Fiji and he thanks the Sai Prema staff for their work.

Director of Cardiac Surgery at the Queensland Children's Hospital in Australia, Doctor Prem Venugopal says it was an amazing experience for him to conduct the successful surgeries of 14 children last week at the Sai Prema Hospital.

Doctor Venugopal says that the facilities provided at the Hospital give hope to all the children who have undergone the surgeries that there can be a change in their life.
