Police Constable Uraia Ratu has been commended for calmly convincing two men wanted for arrest to surrender themselves.

Ratu was off duty when he received a group message alert on his phone about the search for the two men and he was surprised to see the two travelling in the same minibus that he and his wife were in.

He says it was a confined space with his wife and the driver and he knew the only way to prevent any innocent party from getting hurt was to calmly talk to the two men and convince them to surrender themselves.

Ratu adds he put to practice his Customer Service Training and convinced the two men to surrender themselves which they eventually agreed to.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan has commended Police Constable Uraia Ratu’s dedication to the call of duty and in staying true to the motto that police officers are never off duty.
