University student pleads guilty of being in possession of marijuana

A 22-year-old university student charged with one count of possession of illicit drugs has pleaded guilty to the charge before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

Kessler Onguglo Anton was found with 0.1 gram of marijuana in his dormitory on the 1st of August.

It was heard in court that loud noises could be heard from Anton's dormitory and when the Resident Assistants inspected the room, they found that he and his other friends were drinking alcohol.

The court was also told that since alcohol consumption is prohibited on USP Campus, the Assistants in the process of confiscating the alcohol found the marijuana and then referred the matter to police.

Anton had also informed the court that he is in no position to pay a fine.

He will be sentenced on the 8th of September.
