Unity Fiji’s Laitia Matalomani is the 235th candidate for the 2018 general election after his appeal to the Fijian Electoral Commission was successful last night.
Electoral Commission Chairman Suresh Chandra says the Supervisor of Elections has been directed to add Matalomani to the approved list of candidates for the elections.
The Electoral Commission considered a copy of the judgment from Matalomani’s criminal conviction that was furnished to the Electoral Commission and later verified through the Office of the Supervisor of Elections.
The commission says it further considered the submissions of the Supervisor of Elections following the receipt of the judgment.
