UniFiji continues with virtual learning while VC encourages discretion in campus access

University of Fiji staff and students are advised to use their discretion to physically access the University campuses in view of adverse weather conditions.

Vice Chancellor Professor Shaista Shameem says the university remains open in the virtual space so physical presence is not necessary.

She says students and staff are able to continue lectures through the TopHat online platforms and all other business of the University will continue online.

Professor Shameem says those who are able to, can also access the campuses physically but common sense is advised.

She says many of the university's staff and students will be working from home due to access issues with flooded waterways and roads in many parts.

Professor Shameem says however, the university can move seamlessly into the virtual space despite natural disasters so its work will continue regardless.

She adds this has been the practice with previous natural disasters as well.
