The Vice Chancellor of the University of Fiji, Professor Shaista Shameem has congratulated Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba on her appointment as Vice Chancellor of the Fiji National University.
Professor Shameem says Professor Nabobo-Baba will bring innovative leadership to FNU as it moves into a new era of higher education in Fiji.
She says since so few women occupy the top echelons of the educational sphere in Fiji, though they are capable and qualified, Professor Nabobo-Baba's appointment shows the wisdom of the FNU Council in recognizing the leadership qualities of women in higher education.
She adds that she is looking forward to working closely with Professor Nabobo-Baba on critical issues in higher education in Fiji, particularly its reform from a Fijian perspective.
