The University of the South Pacific has declared their campuses smoke-free.

Head of USP’s Health, Safety and Environment Unit, Dr. Roman Chute says the aim of this project is to protect their staff and students health and preserve the environment.

Dr. Chute says this is also a step to align the university with legislation pertaining to the Tobacco Control Act in Fiji and in other regional countries.

USP Vice Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia says this is going to be a collective effort of its staff and students to ensure that this becomes a reality.
