US congratulates people of Fiji
People stand in line to cast their vote at the 2014 general elections

The Office of the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Jen Psaki has congratulated the people of Fiji for the steps they have taken towards restoring democracy, including conducting the historic vote on September 17th. 

Psaki said the United States looks forward to the conclusion of the vote tally and certification of the results. 

The US Department of State spokesperson said the United States is committed to working with the people of Fiji, and their elected government, as they work to strengthen democratic and inclusive institutions. 

Looking ahead, the US said it will deepen it’s engagement and expand cooperation, building on the enduring ties between the American and Fijian people.
