US Women’s basketball team moves on to Paris Olympics semi finals

Defending Women’s Basketball gold medallist, the USA, are through to the semi finals of the Paris Olympics after defeating Nigeria 88-74 in the quarter finals this morning.

27-year-old centre A'ja Wilson scored 20 points for the US while guard, Jackie Young collected 15 points.

The US will face Australia at 3.30am Saturday in the first semi final while host France will meet Belgium at 7am on the same day in the second semi final.

Looking at other quarter final results, Australia beat Serbia 85-67, Belgium defeated Spain 79-66 and France beat Germany 84-71.

The US continues to lead the overall Olympics medal tally with 27 gold, 35 silver and 32 bronze, China is second with 25 gold, 23 silver and 17 bronze, while Australia is third with 18 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze.
