Police are searching for two people who are currently missing at sea.

A report was received at 5 o’clock this morning by Police that three people went out fishing when strong currents caused their boat to overturn just outside the Sigatoka river mouth.

One of them managed to swim ashore and informed Police while the other two were swept out to open sea.

A team from the Sigatoka Police Station went out to sea to search for the two people but their search came back negative.

They will be sending another team at this hour to continue the search.

Police are calling on all mariners to keep a lookout and report any sightings to the Police Search and Rescue Centre on 3318-529 or 9905-296.
